What can I expect at tryouts?

Tryouts for the Swarm will be at the High Blue Wellness Center (Belton
Community Center) on November 7th and on November 14th.
Plan to arrive twenty minutes early to complete your registration.
You may not enter the gym until your registration is complete. Registration will
consist of the following:
1. Complete and sign the HOA Tryout Insurance, Registration
and Release Form
2. Pay $10 tryout fee
note: Forms will be available at tryouts.
As part of your registration you will be given a penne (bib) to wear with a
number. This is the number we will use to identify you and note your
performance during tryouts.
Tryouts will begin with a brief talk to parents and players about who we (The
Swarm) are, what you can expect from the "club ball" experience, how the
actual tryouts will be handled and the player selection and acceptance
process.
Next, the actual volleyball tryouts will begin. We will ask the girls to perform
various drills to show their individual talents. We will be looking for agility,
attitude and coach-ability - as well as basic volleyball skills. Near the end of
the tryouts we will have a scrimmage to give the girls a chance to perform in a
game situation.
At the completion of tryouts The Swarm will post the numbers in the hallway of
those individuals being offered a position. If your number is on the list, we ask
that you proceed immediately to the table in the far side of the gym and
acknowledge the offer. You DO NOT have to accept the offer at this time -
only acknowledge the offer and turn in your penne. If you received an offer,
this will also be your opportunity to ask questions. If you DO NOT
acknowledge the offer, The Swarm will assume that you are not interested in
the position and your position will be offered to another player. Selected
players will have until Monday 4:00 pm following tryouts to accept or decline
an offer. Verbal commitments are binding. After the acceptance window has
expired, The Swarm WILL NOT WAIT FOR PLAYERS TO ATTEND OTHER
CLUB TRYOUTS OR RECEIVE OTHER CLUB OFFERS. We will complete
our rosters based on players that want to play for The Swarm as their FIRST
CHOICE - not settle for The Swarm.
In the event that one or more of those offered a position decline or do not
acknowledge the offer, The Swarm will then start to call alternates. If you are
an alternate, you may not receive a call until as late as the Monday or
Tuesday night following tryouts. Once the team is filled we will post a
message on our web site stating that the team is complete.
During the selections and acceptance process please be considerate of the
feelings of others!
