HOA has a provision to allow a club to waiver a player down to a lower age group. The provision was implemented to allow players to play on teams with their school classmates and age group.
Nationally, the age group cutoff for USAV teams is September 1st. However, in the mid-west schools tend to use a cutoff date of July 1st to August 1st. This means that players with birth dates during those months would normally be required to play with players in the grade above them.
The waiver rules are simple.
1. Waivered players are only allowed on Silver teams - not Gold.
2. The waivered player MUST be in the appropriate grade for the team they are waivered on. Example - 12u players are expected to be in the 6th grade. A player that is in the 7th grade may not be waivered on a 12u team.
3. Players (age and grade appropriate) may be waivered on any Junior Silver team up to 18u.
4. The decision to use waivered players belongs to the individual club. If the club accepts a waivered play they will lose to option of moving that team up to the Gold level later in the season.
