Fundraising updates:
Trash bags - Several of you have confirmed that you are selling trash bags.
Good news - I have distributed about half of our supply, but we just received
another delivery. To pick them up, we can meet you at the church, or we can
make other arrangements as needed. At $3 profit for each roll sold, the trash
bag sales are a wonderful and easy way to raise money. Remember, the $3
profit for each roll sold goes towards that player’s individual 2010-11 club fee.
I have attached a copy of the trash bag sales order sheet.
Bob Evans - We have a fundraiser scheduled for Saturday, September 11th at
the Bob Evan’s Restaurant in Belton. You need to print and distribute the
attached flyer advertising the fundraiser. BE SURE TO WRITE YOUR NAME
ON IT. Then, on September 11th, for each patron that presents the flyer when
paying their bill, Bob Evans will donate 15% of the total bill to The Swarm. We
will also be allowed to sell trash bags during the fundraiser. I will have a
supply at the restaurant and you may sign up to work one or more sessions.
The sessions will be two hours each and all trash bags profits for each two
hour session will go to the players that worked that session. I’m thinking two
players per session and the fundraiser will be from 8 am to 8 pm.
Car Wash - We have a car wash scheduled for Saturday, September 4th at the
Dairy Queen in Raymore from 10: am to 4:00 pm. Tell your friends. We will
also be allowed to sell trash bags during the fundraiser. I will have a supply at
the car wash. You may sign up to work one or more sessions at the car wash
or to sell trash bags. The sessions will be two hours each and all profits for
each two hour session will go to the players that worked that session. I’m
thinking one or two players per session to sell trash bags and 5-6 players per
session to wash cars.
ShowMe Peeler Cards – I can get the ShowMe Peeler cards with about 48
hours notice, I need to know the quantity you need and for which city (Blue
Springs, Independence, Lee’s Summit, Raymore, Belton, etc). Remember, the
$5 profit for each card sold goes towards that player’s individual 2010-11 club
fee.
Fundraiser Tracking - Our fundraiser tracking system is now in place. You
may request a statement for your daughter’s fundraising credits at any time.
The statement also contains your contact information and other individual data
– sample attached. All feedback and suggestions are welcome.
Remember, the Swarm's fundraising program tracks the profits from each
player’s fundraising activities and applies those profits to help offset that
individual player’s Swarm club fees for the 2010-11 club season. Players must
sign a commitment to the Swarm to be eligible to participate in the fundraising
program.
More on car washes and other opportunities soon.
Leave something at the gym - check out the LOST AND FOUND link on the
Swarm home page.
Clubwear - including spandex, socks, t-shirts and hoodies are available for
sale at all practices.
Teams AND COACHES - Please DO NOT bring friends to practice. We have
limited space and friends can present a distraction.
Players are expected to attend ALL PRACTICES scheduled for their
respective team. The Swarm staff will take attendance and any unexcused
absences will affect tournament playing time. Players - please call your coach
BEFORE practice if you are unable to attend
Emails - If you are not receiving Swarm e-mails, please send an email to The
Swarm from your email account and request you email id be added to the club
distribution.
Parents - please send a picture of you to the Swarm for posting on the "Team
Parent" page of the web site. Let the other team parents know who you are.
A printable version of each team's tournament schedule is available on the
team's tournament page.
The Southside Swarm is a competitive volleyball club based in the southern
Lee's Summit, Raymore, Missouri areas. We are a member of the Heart of
America (HOA) chapter of USA Volleyball.
Be sure to read the article from USA Volleyball regarding ankle injuries.
Attitude is EVERYTHING! All players and parents should note that we are a
club and a team both on and off the court. Be sure to always have a positive
attitude and support your club/team mates. Remember, you represent the club
at practice, tournaments AND at school. Set a good example and make us
proud!
Parents - The Swarm has created this resource directory for you to advertise
your business or services. Club families are encouraged to support those
businesses that are involved with The Swarm. To get your information posted,
please send an email to The Swarm with your business name, a brief
description, phone number(s), email address and a logo (optional - gif or jpeg
format). It's free!
Important note - several players are still not wearing ankle protection with
their school team. We strongly advise you wear some type of ankle protection
AT ALL TIMES when playing volleyball. An injury can happen at any time and
it could end your season prematurely. Also, the best way to get used to the
additional gear is to wear it and practice in it.
