| The Swarm has heard varying versions of the MSHSAA Player and Coaching Eligibility Guidelines quoted by a lot of individuals throughout the league - non of them consistent. So, we decided to go directly to the source and publish the guidelines ourselves. Here they are - the actual guidelines................. MSHSAA Coaching Eligability Guidelines - "if held during the school year (for non-school competition) but outside the designated school season for the sport, the participant shall receive no coaching from a member of the coaching staff of the school the student attends or will attend the following year". MSHSAA Player Participation Guidelines - "You may not practice for or participate with a nonschool team or in any organized nonschool athletic competition and for your school team in the same sport during the same season of the school team. You may participate on a school team and a nonschool team in different sports during the same season; however, you may not practice for the nonschool team or participate in organized nonschool athletic competition on the same day that you practice with or participate for the school team without prior approval of your school administrator". This means if your player has made the volleyball team at their school they are not allowed to play volleyball at church or with any recreational volleyball team during the school season. If they break this rule, the player will become ineligible to play volleyball at school for one year. They are eligible to participate in one on one volleyball instruction or to practice on their own but they cannot practice or play in groups of two or more. Once the school volleyball season ends (approx Nov 1st) the player is free to play when ever and where ever they wish. |
